Did the Turmeric Teeth Whitening Method Work?

It's been one week since I've started the turmeric teeth whitening method! Did it turn my teeth white? or stain it yellow?

Let me just get one thing out of the way, the turmeric definitely DID NOT stain my teeth! PHEW!

If you missed my previous blog post sharing my first time experience using this method you can check it out HERE and this is the blog that intrigued me to try the natural method posted by Healthy Holistic Living

Before I get into the results,  the photos that I took of my teeth were unfortunately inconsistent (with lighting) and I forgot to take a photo on the Wednesday. So please be  mindful when viewing the photos!

DAY 1 - Thursday February 11, 2016

I took this photo the day I filmed my announcement that I was going to try the turmeric method and BEFORE I tried turmeric.  First thing's first, this photo is very bright and I'm not sure why it's so much brighter than all the other photos I took the days after (maybe it was my shirt, the sun that day or where I clicked focus). In this photo my teeth look so white, but they really aren't, so unfortunately this photo is a poor representation of the colour of my teeth before I started the method.

For the rest of the photos, I took them right after I used the turmeric paste!

DAY 2 - Friday February 12, 2016

In this photo, my teeth look more true to colour and I decided to start holding a piece of white paper to compare my teeth and hopefully see a difference.

DAY 3 - Saturday February 13, 2016

Day 3 compared to Day 2, I feel like there's a slight "whiter" difference.

DAY 4 - Sunday February 14, 2016

DAY 5 - Monday February 15, 2016

DAY 6 - Tuesday February 16, 2016

DAY 7 - Wednesday February 17, 2016

I forgot to take a photo this day :(

DAY 8 - Thursday February 18, 2016

DAY 9 - Friday February 19, 2016

DO YOU SEE A DIFFERENCE? (Click on the photo for enlarged view)

In my opinion,  the photos from Day 2 to Day 9, I did not see much difference. In fact, my teeth fluctuate in colour (white/yellowy/blue) due to colour imbalance.  However, in real life, I honestly do believe the method SLIGHTLY whitened my teeth (around the gums). The turmeric method is not going to give you the same results as Crest White Strips, so don't have high expectations. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative that is all natural, I'd say give this method a whirl. I've read so many articles claiming that it's a miracle teeth whitener but of course through these photos, you will think otherwise.  Maybe 1 week wasn't enough and so I plan to continue to use it and  see if I notice any major differences over the next month.  Unfortunately these photos aren't a great representation of my experience, and I apologize for that!  I hope you guys enjoyed this little experiment and if you have tried this method and had a different or similar result let me know in the comments :)

Thanks for reading!

TESTING | Turmeric Teeth Whitening Method!

Once again I am trying out a new natural method!

Someone from one of the green beauty groups I am a part of shared an article about using turmeric as a natural teeth whitening method. Of course I was intrigued and wanted to try it out to see if it actually worked. If you are interested in trying out this method WITH ME, here is the link to the ARTICLE if you want to give it a read.

- 1 Tablespoon of Coconut Oil
- 1 Teaspoon of Turmeric
- A little bit of Peppermint Oil (optional)

Mix all the ingredients together. Wet your toothbrush and dip it into the mixture. Brush the paste on to your teeth as you would with toothpaste for about 3-5 minutes. Spit (into the garbage) and rinse well.

My Winter Essentials

Where I live in Canada, it gets cold... really cold!

In this post, I just want to share with you my winter essentials to survive the real winter.

Currently I am using this lip butter from Herbivore Botanicals in Rose. I absolutely love this lip balm because it it moisturizing but it doesn't look shiny.

I know that this is technically not a hand lotion, but the container isn't too big for me to carry around so currently this is what I am using as an all around moisturizer, including my hands!

Before I started caring about the ingredients in the products I used, I LOVED this hand cream. This was by far one of the best hand creams I've used! I still have almost 3/4 of the tube left but unfortunately I chose to stop using it due to the toxic chemicals used in this product. If you are not into green beauty then definitely give this thing a try!

I have a pair of North Face gloves (watch the video if you want to see mine) similar to these ones. I got mine around a year or two ago so they do not sell them anymore, however, these one above are actually better.  Not only do these gloves have grips on them like mine, they are also touch screen compatible!  I personally wear my gloves when I snowboard underneath of a thicker glove just so when I strap myself in I don't have to do it bare skin.  Aside from snowboarding, I also wear them when I drive since they have grips on them.

This pair below I still do not understand how they work. They are leather gloves that are phone compatible. Usually with leather gloves, they have a different tech compatible fabric that are sewn on to the index and thumb. These gloves however, do not have any of that! They look like regular ole leather gloves that work on touch screens... ALL FIVE FINGERS!

The first scarf I am going to show you is more for aesthetics, however it is very warm.  My faux fur scarf (watch the video to see mine) is actually pretty warm but it is super fashionable and can amp up any outfit.

This is my most worn scarf this past year. It is such a soft, cozy, versatile scarf. It is warm but not too thick, it is actually the perfect scarf if you have a very warm winter coat. This scarf can be worn all year round AND be worn in 7 different ways including a cardigan!

You can never go wrong with a blanket scarf for the winter. Blanket scarfs are perfect for adding another warm layer to your outfit but they are also great as a BLANKET of course! :)

Thick socks are an essential for me during the winter. Your body may be warm but if your feet are ice cold it's uncomfortable. This pair below from Roots are super cozy but you can definitely find cheaper alternatives! :)

During my 4 years of undergrad at Western University, I did not own a pair of good boots. Now that I have a pair, I honestly have no idea how I survived without any! Invest in a pair of good winter boots if it snows where you live. My Sorel boots are the perfect pair for me, they aren't too clunky, they are still fashionable and are super warm. I absolutely love them and highly recommend them!

Just like my boots, I did not have a good winter jacket when I lived in London, ON.  Stop purchasing $50 jackets that are only slightly warm, INVEST in a real winter coat if you experience a Canadian winter like I do.  After much research, I decided not to go for the typical Canada Goose that everyone seems to have these days, I purchased myself a Nobis jacket. I love everything about my coat and love how it does not look too bulky on my body. To hear more about why I love this coat and see how it looks on me, watch the video of below :)

REVIEW | 100% Pure Cosmetics

Today I just want to do a quick review of some of 100% Pure cosmetics. They were kind enough to send me some products to try out to review for you guys.

If you haven't heard of 100% Pure cosmetics before, they are an organic cosmetic line free of all harmful toxins. Their products are 100% natural, 100% cruelty-free, and 100% free of artificial colours, artificial fragrances, synthetic chemical preservatives and all other toxins. How amazing is that? To top it off, their cosmetics get their colour and pigment from fruit dyes!

Let's begin!

Fruit Pigmented Strawberry Blush

My best description of this blush is that it's a dusty pink. I find that the pigment of this blush wasn't as dark as I had anticipated. It takes a couple of applications for it to show up, but once it's been layered it's a beautiful colour. The blush does not have the greatest lasting power. I do find that it fades as the day goes on but it does not bother me to re-apply.

Fruit Pigments of Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry), Punica Granatum (Pomegrante), Vaccinium Macrocarpon (Cranberry), Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry), Fragaria Vesca (Strawberry), and Prunus Serotina (Cherry), Oryza Sativa (Rice) Starch, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima Oil (Avocado Butter), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Linum Usitatissimum (Flax) Seed Oil, Lycium Chinense (Goji Berry) Fruit Extract, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Ascorbyl Palmitate (Vitamin C ), Mica (natural shimmery mineral)

Fruit Pigmented Pretty Naked Palette

This is a great neutral eyeshadow palette! It comes with a luminescent powder, a blush and three eyeshadows.  The luminescent powder (Pink Champagne) is a great highlighter powder, it adds a natural sheen to your cheeks. The blush powder (Pretty Naked) in this palette was by far my favourite. I loved the blush in this palette a lot more than the Strawberry; it's matte, the pigmentation was much better and did not need as much layering to show up on my skin tone.  My least favourite in this palette would have to be the Flaxseed eyeshadow. Looking at the the colour in the palette it seems as if it would be a nudey-beige. However, when it is swatched, Flaxseed looks more like a pink eyeshadow. You can definitely use it for more pink eyeshadow looks or as a highlighter but because the swatch did not match what it looks like in the palette, I was not a huge fan since I was hoping it would be beige so I could use it as a blending colour for the next two eyeshadows. Toffee and Chestnut are absolutely gorgeous colours. Toffee is a shimmery, dark taupe while Chestnut is a shimmery copper colour. You can wear these two colours together or wear them alone as a one shadow look giving your eyes a natural look.

Pink Champagne Luminescent Powder: Oryza Sativa (Rice) Starch, Rosa Canina Seed (Rosehip) Oil, Persea Gratissima Oil (Avocado Butter), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Pigmented Extracts of Punica Granatum (Pomegranate), Vaccinium Macrocarpon Fruit (Carnberry), Fragaria Vesca Fruit (Strawberry), Rubus Idaeus Fruit (Raspberry), Prunus Serotina Fruit (Cherry), Prunus Armeniaca Fruit (Apricot), Prunus Persica Fruit (Peach) and Vitis Vinifera Fruit, (cabernet Grapes) and Matricaria Chamomilla Leaf (Chamomile), Punca Granatum (Pomegranate) Extract, Lycium Chinense Fruit (Goji Berry) Extract, Sodium Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Mica (natural shimmery mineral)

Pretty Naked Powder Blush: Oryza Sativa (Rice) Starch, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima Oil (Avocado Butter), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Pigmented Extracts of Theobroma Cacao (Cacao), Prunus domestica Fruit (Plum), Punica Granatum (Pomegranate), Rubus Idaeus Fruit (Raspberry), Rosa Centifolia Flower (Rose Petal), Fragaria Vesca Fruit (Strawberry) and Prunus Serotina Fruit (Cherry), Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Extract, Lycium Chinenes Fruit (Goji Berry) Extract, Sodium Ascorbate (Vitamin C), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), mica (natural shimmery mineral)

Flax Seed Powder Eye Shadow: Rice Starch, Pigments of Carrot, Squash, Apricot, Peach, Papaya and Tomato, Vitamin E (a-tocopherol), Rosehip Oil, Pomegranate Seed Oil, Avocado Butter, Cocoa Butter, Red Wine Resveratrol, Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate), may contain Mica (natural shimmery mineral)

Toffee Powder Eye Shadow: Rice Starch, Pigments of Cacao, Apricot, Peach, Vanilla, Pomegranate, Blackberry, Blueberry, Raspberry, Coffee, Papaya, Tomato, Black Tea and Acai, Vitamin E (a-tocopherol), Rosehip Oil, Pomegranate Seed Oil, Avocado Butter, Cocoa Butter, Red Wine Resveratrol, Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate), may contain Mica (natural shimmer mineral)

Chestnut Powder Eye Shadow: Rice Starch, Pigments of Cacao, Apricot, Peach, Vanilla, Pomegranate, Blackberry, Blueberry, Raspberry, Coffee, Papaya, Tomato, Black Tea and Acai, Vitamin E (a-tocopherol), Rosehip Oil, Pomegranate Seed Oil, Avocado Butter, Cocoa Butter, Red Wine Resveratrol, Vitamin C (ascorbyl palmitate), may contain Mica (natural shimmer mineral)

Mangosteen Whipped Body Butter

WOW. This was my FAVOURITE out of the whole haul. This is the natural version of The Body Shop's body butters but BETTER because these don't contain toxic chemicals. This whipped body butter is very hydrating and immediately moisturizes your skin without being greasy. The smell of this is just amazing as well.  Before I received this whipped body butter, I was just using pure, cold-pressed coconut oil. I still use this method when I get out of the shower however, with coconut oil, you have to sit and wait for it to absorb into your skin before putting your clothes on to avoid getting the oils on it.  On days where I am in a rush to head out the door, I grab this whipped body butter and it does the job instantly. I can't get enough of this product and will definitely be repurchasing!

Theobroma Cacao Seed (Cocoa) Butter, Persea Gratissima Oil (Avocado Butter), Shea Butter, Organic Argan Oil*, Rosa Canina (Organic Rosehip)* Seed Oil, Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe Vera)* Leaf Juice, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Extracts of Euterpe Oleracea (Acai Berry) Fruit, Resveratrol, Camellia Sinensis (Organic Green Tea)* Leaf, Garcinia Mangosteen (Mangosteen) Peel, Lycium Barbarum (Goji Berry) Fruit, Aristotelia Chilensis (Maqui Berry), Sambucus Canadensis (Elderberry) and Vitis Vinifera (Muscadine Grape) Skin, Extract of Lonicera Caprifolium Flower, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf, Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Leaf, Thymus Vulgaris Flower/Leaf (Thyme), Hydrastis Canadersis (Goldenseal), Ethyl Alcohol (Grain Alcohol), natural Flavors * Certified Organic

Dark Chocolate Long Last Liquid Eye Liner

What I have been using as my liquid eyeliner for the past 5 years was L'Oreal's Lineur Intense in Dark Brown.  Since receiving this eyeliner, I have replaced my L'Oreal Lineur Intense for the nights where I go out or if I am going to be wearing makeup all day and need it to last.  This liquid eyeliner by 100% Pure dries so quickly once applied and does not budge! I have to be honest, I didn't think this liquid eye liner was going to perform as well as it did.  In the video below, I did a side by side comparison of the two showing you how well 100% Pure's eye liner stays on even when I rub it with water.  The only downside to this eyeliner is the brush applicator. I am not a huge fan of using a brush tip applicator for my eyeliner since I have become so accustomed to my felt tip applicator on my L'Oreal Lineur Intense, but I am sure with practice I will get more used to it.

Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Camellia Sinensis (Organic Black Tea)* Leaf Extract, Vegetable Glycerin, Aloe Barbadensis (Organic Aloe)* Leaf Juice, Xanthan Gum, Extracts of Origanum Vulgare (Oregano) Leaf, Thymus Vulgaris (Thyme) Flower/Leaf and
Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf, Mica, Extracts of Lonicera Caprifolium Flower, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower and Curcuma Longa (Turmeric)

My Current Favourites!

Hey you guys!

In this video, I want to share with you my current favourites and also show you that I STILL use conventional cosmetics. I spent $ on those products and I plan to use them up instead of tossing them. I know I have been posting a lot of videos about natural products but I am not here to try to convince you to completely transition your entire collection (even though that is MY goal). I want you all to know the amazing products that ARE available and are BETTER for you. At the end of the day, I just want to inspire you to try something new and as I always say, using ONE LESS toxic product is better than NOTHING. However, in this video I will be featuring a couple products that I still do love even though they aren't 100% natural! xx :)

Over 1 Year of No-Poo Method Update!

If you guys have been following me since my Wordpress blog, you would know I started the no-poo method last January 2014.  I have experimented with a couple of different methods and as of March 2015, I have surpassed the one year mark on this no-poo journey.

In this video, I share with you my experiences in the past year and let you know of my new updated method & routine with no-poo.
